Abstract

The aim of this case study was to evaluate the nutritional genomes profile of a soccer player by analyzing the interaction between genes and nutritional habits related to metabolism. The genetic analysis was conducted on a soccer player from the National U17 team, aged 16 years, with stature of 175cm and body mass 66kg. The GOLDFORCE DNA ATHLETIC TEST utilizing an epithelial sample analyzed the effects of 11 genes on the player’s health, nutrition, and physical performance. The results showed that out of the genes analyzed in terms of the player’s nutrigenomics, four exhibited positive genotypes, three displayed neutral genotypes and three genes demonstrated negative genotypes. The evaluation of genes associated with metabolism (ADRB2, ADRB1, MCHR1, CETP) revealed that the athlete does not possess an inherited risk of obesity, exhibits efficient lipid metabolism, and has a high rate of thermogenesis. The analysis of the CYP1A2_1C gene demonstrated a satisfactory stimulatory response to caffeine, while the HFE gene confirmed the athlete’s ability to absorb iron effectively. In conclusion, the insights provided by predispositional nutrigenomics could help mitigate genetic limitations and capitalize on the athlete’s genetic advantages, thereby facilitating a safe advancement towards a successful career in soccer.
